I'd recommend making a reservation if you'd like table seating. We grabbed a spot at the bar (full menu). I do love sitting at the bar and watching the bartenders craft cocktails. It felt like dinner and a show. I ordered gluten free noodles and they were the best GF noodles I've ever had. I truly couldn't tell a difference. The pasta sauce was the slightest bit spicy making it the perfect dish. Weird to say, but I loved the single stall bathrooms. I'd go back just for the bathrooms, but the decor and atmosphere make the experience of an upscale Italian restaurant.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. The food is great, drinks are perfect and the service is always great. I love the outdoor seating in the spring and summer.
Chopped salad was sizable and definitely suitable for sharing, the tuna crudo not so much. The portion is a little small for what you're paying. The tagliatelle with beef ragu was so yummy. Great vibes and drinks as well! Will have to come back to try their dessert!
My most recommended place to eat in Chicago. The service is always impeccable with the courses timed just right. They always willing to make recommendations or accommodate requests for changes in things like cocktails. The ricotta dumplings are must order, along with the table bread. The seasonal burrata never disappoints. We always get the rigatoni too. The chicken parmesan is good, but it is the only thing we found a little lack luster of our entire meal. But my Italian friends are very picky about a chicken parm. For your birthday, they serve an impeccable birthday cake gelato to finish the meal. The decor and vibe of the restaurant is one of a kind. You won't be disappointed at Alla Vita.
I was able to get a pretty last minute reservation at Alla Vita this weekend, which made me wonder if the hype had finally died down. Whether it has or not, I'm pleased to say that the experience has remained worth the hype. We had an excellent server who recommended good wines and menu items. We started with Fritte Miso, Olives, Roasted Octopus, and Meatballs. The meatballs were the table fave, I liked the octopus best, and we all agreed that the olives are a sneaky winner - sooo good. I had chicken Parmesan for my entree and it was delicious, and the plate came with 3 chicken cutlets, so I had leftovers. My husband got the vodka rigatoni and it was just as good as I remember!!! I seriously don't know how they make a simple dish so perfectly. We also got broccolini and roasted potatoes on the side. The broccolini was delish and the potatoes were unlike any I've ever had. I'm so glad Alla Vita has not changed in its two years!
Alla Vita has to have one of the best lunch deals in Chicago! On weekdays, you can get a 3 course lunch for only $25. I got the arancini to start that were so good! I would recommend getting them every time you are here and they have it as an appetizer for dinner as well. I got their vodka rigatoni and the vodka sauce was incredible. I was getting full as their portion sizes are pretty big even with the low lunch price, but I nearly finished the whole plate of pasta. For dessert, I got the vanilla gelato with olive oil. The dessert was amazing and the salt on top was a great touch as well!
Lovely dining area/ambiance, service was fantastic including a customized menu callout for my brother's bday. Sat right near the bar with a large-ish party (6), waiter was very attentive, tuna crudo and octopus were on point, my family raved about the ricotta dumplings (I'm weird and don't love cheese, eek, bad Italian!), tagliatelle with beef shank ragu was unbelievable Salud!
In love with Alla Vita. From the staff to the food to the ambience, everything is top notch. Such a beautiful space.
Alla Vita is absolutely fantastic! A few friends and I met up for lunch and I was so glad we decided to try Alla Vita! The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a great ambiance. Our server was phenomenal and made really great recommendations based on our preferences. We chose to do the prix fixe lunch menu which included a choice of starter, entree, and dessert for $25. I thought the price was super reasonable considering the amount (and high quality!) of food you get. We also got an order of the burrata for the table. Everything we ate was outstanding! Overall, I was super impressed with my experience at Alla Vita. I totally understand why this place is so busy all the time. I'll absolutely be back in the future. Lunch was great, so I'm excited to try out dinner!
When is the last time you said I LOVE THIS SALAD? My lunch companion said the same thing! He enjoyed the Alla Vita Chopped while I sampled the Arugula & Apple Salad- Crunchy Hazelnuts, chewy farro, zesty pecorino, and a tart lemon tarragon vinaigrette came together in a perfect symphony of flavors. While the salads were gorgeous and tasty, the space is inviting and very hip, the service was impeccable. Especially because our business meeting took longer than expected and despite the lunch shift ending and the restaurant essentially closing between shifts, no one rushed us or even tried to take the signed paid check (that part we did promptly so not to keep our server. I went to the server and handed her the completed transaction just in case she was trying to get home. ) Thanks Alla Vita! Your patience was much appreciated.
